Tallgrass

Support

Help for the trail ahead.

Tallgrass is an invitation-only private beta operated by Badland LLC. These steps cover the support controls available in the current app.

Field notes

Clear details, gathered in one place.

Signing in and joining the beta

Use the invited email on your Badland account. You can continue with Google or use a verified email-and-password account. Joining the public waitlist saves your email for consideration; it does not create an account or grant access.

Posting a discovery

A discovery can contain one to ten photos, RAW files, or videos. Keep Tallgrass open while large files transfer. The current beta requires a precise location before posting and shares that exact map point with signed-in beta members. If location or upload fails, the app keeps the draft for a retry when possible.

AI results and challenges

Identifications, rarity descriptions, and scores are AI estimates and can be wrong. Open a discovery to review the visible clues and uncertainty, ask the private field guide a follow-up question, or use Challenge identification for a deeper reassessment. Do not rely on a photo result to decide whether something is safe to eat, touch, approach, or use medically.

AI analysis requires AI sharing permission in Profile. You can stop future sharing there without deleting past results. A comparison, chat, or challenge also stops if a relevant member has revoked permission.

Notifications

Open Profile, then Enable notifications. Tallgrass can show a local completion alert while the app is open. Remote push also depends on the server's Apple notification configuration. You can change permission in iOS Settings at any time.

Reporting and community safety

Use Report on a discovery, comment, or member to send a reason to the Tallgrass operator. You can also block a member and delete your own comments from the conversation. Review the Community Guidelines for the conduct and content expected in the beta. If there is an immediate danger, contact local emergency services rather than waiting for an app response.

Deleting discoveries or Tallgrass data

Delete a discovery from its detail view to remove that discovery and its stored files. To remove all live Tallgrass data, open Profile, choose Delete Tallgrass data, and confirm. The app removes its local session and attempts to remove locally saved Tallgrass drafts and media after the server confirms deletion.

This deletes Tallgrass data but does not delete the underlying Badland account used for authentication. See the Privacy Notice for retention details.
